** Vintage 80's Summer Lightweight Bib Capri Overalls -S- Stripes ala Dexys Midnight Runners**
Lightweight cotton sheeting bib overalls with crop/capri legs from the early 1980's. Made in India by Serkez. These were originally tagged a Medium BUT I was a size 6 when I bought them and wearing them with a skinny belt, they fit great (a little extra fullness in the hip area but that was the style then and the thin fabric makes the baggier fit more attractive). I wore them belted with the legs rolled up to a few inches below the knee (like the 80's band Dexys Midnight Runners)
Recommended ONLY for a Modern Misses size 6 or a size 8 with a small derriere.
I bought these in about 1983 and after wearing them a few times, stored them away. They are in very good, gently pre-owned vintage condition.
Soft, cool and very lightweight 100% cotton (almost hankie-weight) in pinkish-red and white ticking stripes. These have always been hand-washed and dried on a hanger; that's the cleaning method I would recommend.
Measurements: Bust is flexible, waist 18" across (measured at the belt loop level), Hip 19" across, inseam 23", leg width at hem 6.5".
The bib has long straps with metal D-rings to secure them, 2 pockets on the lower front bib, 2 side seam pockets, 2 back patch pockets, full upper legs that taper. Little silver metal rivets on the bib and back pockets.
In the 80s they looked great over a close-fitting white v-neck tee with skinny belt (gave that paperbag waist look) and rolled up the legs to just below the knees.
